HIVOS, Sullivan and Workplace Pride move the dial on LGBTI inclusion in Kenya!

Post Date: January 12, 2018

As previously announced, Workplace Pride is pleased to be cooperating with HIVOS (The Hague) and Sullivan (Nairobi) on the first Colorful Workplaces conference. This event will initially look at the broad issues of diversity and inclusion in the Kenyan workplace and later drill down to more specific topics, including LGBT inclusion.

The conference is part of a larger program that, through awareness raising and targeted training, will raise the bar for all types of diversity and inclusion in the country. Sullivan in Nairobi was the author of a study in 2015. The study, funded by HIVOS and in which Workplace Pride cooperated through our members, explored LGBT inclusion in the Kenyan context and in particular with multinationals. The program and the conference were the next logical step to give the topic more momentum locally.

A highlight of the conference will be the first launching in Africa of the new United Nations Standards on LGBTI Business.

Workplace Pride members IBM and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs are sponsors of the conference which takes place on  the 8th of February in Nairobi.
