LGBTI PEOPLE OF COLOUR IN THE WORKPLACE WEBINAR

Workplace Pride is very proud to partner with Parea Nederland to host a webinar on the topic of LGBTI people of colour in the workplace.

This webinar will be a call to action as four charismatic speakers share their own experiences, both personally and professionally, as LGBTI people of colour.

The timing for this event couldn’t be more crucial for a discussion around this subject as the deepening rifts of race and sexuality are exacerbated by events worldwide such as the pandemic, polarising politics and the global explosion of the Black Lives Matter movement and its associated racial discourse.

Against the backdrop of race, gender and workplace inclusion issues, the speakers will discuss topics such as:  

• How to raise a valid sense of urgency around issues experienced as LGBTI people of colour.

• How can LGBTI people of colour become their own sounding boards?

• On workplace policies and structure : Do we need to update or reinvent?

Our guest speakers include:  

Cheyenne Smaal: A successful coaching executive at Waternet, Cheyenne is a Hindustani Surinamese transgender person who has struggled through cultural taboos and turned them into positive methods of transformation

Winston van Niel (Moderator): is the Founder of  Parea Nederland, which is a growing network of LGBTQ+ professionals of colour, Winston is also a consultant in SME funds management in relation to the public sector.

Aurora Guds: Employed at the Dutch Ministry of Finance and an active member of their LGBTI network, ‘B/Proud’, Aurora seeks to embolden and further workplace inclusion for LGBTI people of colour.

Kevin Kabatsi: Originally from Uganda where discrimination was compounded by race and sexuality. Kevin moved to the Netherlands to find a better life and study. He is currently the Program manager for Africa at the Rabobank Foundation.
