With fully interactive plenary sessions, cutting edge speakers and a decisive global tone, the Workplace Pride 2018 International Conference took both the Foundation and the LGBTI workplace movement to a new level. Never before have so many fascinating and relevant topics been handled in such detail at an international LGBTI workplace event. Some of the conclusions, among many others, that were reached include:
The nearly 250 conference participants were also treated to the new Workplace Pride Event App in which other participants could be viewed (at their own discretion) along with conference schedules, and other documentation*. The app also allowed direct interactive voting, giving all the possibility to express their opinion on relevant topics.
Other highlights included Dutch Deputy Prime Minister Kajsa Ollongren, who spoke about her own role as a member of the community and how the Netherlands will continue to support LGBTI people, both legislatively and concretely through a multitude of programs. The presentation of the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress, which represents flags of those countries where homosexuality is still criminalised, definitely got the attention of conference participants and, last but not least, Workplace Pride was very pleased to welcome Heineken as its newest member.
This year’s conference has again raised the bar going forward, but also demonstrated that, through common purpose, determination and down-right hard work on the part of all stakeholders, the topic of LGBTI inclusion in the workplace around the world will continue to grow in leaps and bounds!
