Workplace Pride is proud to announce that HEINEKEN has joined the Foundation as a member. Workplace Pride is a not for profit foundation dedicated to improving the lives of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders and Intersex (LGBTI) people in workplaces all over the world.
HEINEKEN, headquartered in Amsterdam, is the number one brewer in Europe and the number two brewer in the world. The company has over 80,000 employees and operations in over 70 markets globally.
With its very diverse markets, HEINEKEN’s employees, customers, consumers, suppliers and other stakeholders include people with very diverse backgrounds: including LGBTI people. The many different cultural and legal environments where these people live and work means that ensuring LGBTI inclusion can be a challenge. Nonetheless, for HEINEKEN it is a business imperative to embrace diversity and support a climate of inclusion
“We are extremely proud that HEINEKEN has joined Workplace Pride. It will help us to reinforce our diversity and it will give LGBTI colleagues across the globe a clear message that we are serious about LGBTI inclusion, also in countries where this is, for different reasons, a challenge”, says Rutger Goethart, Manager International Labour Relations and one of the LGBTI Network initiators.
This initiative deserves full support at senior management level, as stated by Chris Van Steenbergen, Chief HR Officer: “By joining Workplace Pride, HEINEKEN is reinforcing its strongly held belief that people are at the heart of our company. We see strength in trust, diversity and progress, and this an essential part of our company strategy”.
Workplace Pride welcomes HEINEKEN into the growing family of supportive LGBTI organisations who continue to strive for workplaces where everyone can be themselves.
