Why The Declaration of Amsterdam?
Many LGBTIQ+ employees continue to face discrimination, harassment, and discomfort in the workplace. For over a decade, Workplace Pride has been striving to push the boundaries of LGBTIQ+ inclusion in the workplace. Signing the Declaration of Amsterdam is a positive for a business to start theirLGBTIQ+ inclusive journey. This document will introduce the why and how your organisation will benefit from signing the Declaration of Amsterdam.
Original Declaration of Amsterdam

What We Stand For
Inclusive Corporate Cultures
Workplaces where LGBTIQ+ employees feel valued, can be their authentic selves, and realise their full potential.
Beyond Compliance
Working environments that go further than minimum legal requirements of equality.
Visible Leadership
Active leadership from heterosexual allies and LGBTIQ+ role models who visibly support inclusive workplaces.
Shared Responsibility
Dedicated and active collaboration between employers and LGBTIQ+ employees to achieve mutually beneficial progress.
WHY Sign the Declaration?
Commitment
By signing the Declaration of Amsterdam, your organisation publicly demonstrates its commitment to fostering a more inclusive workplace for LGBTIQ+ employees. This creates space for meaningful dialogue — internally and externally — and positions your organisation as a proactive leader in inclusion.
Evaluation
You may discover there is room for improvement. That is not a weakness — it is an opportunity. The critical first step is evaluation. Workplace Pride supports your organisation using the Global Benchmark Toolkit, helping you assess your current LGBTIQ+ inclusion status both qualitatively and quantitatively. This insight enables focused, measurable improvements.
Progress
An LGBTIQ+ inclusive workplace benefits everyone. Like universal design, inclusive practices strengthen the entire organisation — increasing psychological safety, employee happiness, engagement, and performance across the board. Through our Learning & Development Programmes, Workplace Pride supports your organisation in embedding inclusion into everyday culture and leadership.
