A mentorship built on trust, curiosity, and shared growth

When Zisis joined the Young Mentorship Program of Workplace Pride, he was looking for guidance from someone with more senior experience in the corporate world. What he found instead was something deeper: a safe, reflective space where professional growth and personal development naturally came together.

“All you really need for mentoring are two things: commitment and curiosity.” — Edward, mentor

Paired with mentor Edward, the mentorship quickly evolved beyond traditional career conversations. From the very first meeting, their connection was shaped by openness, curiosity, and mutual respect. Sharing lived experiences — including career transitions, cultural differences, and moments that shaped their identities — created trust and allowed conversations to unfold organically over time.

Rather than rushing through topics, Zisis and Edward chose to slow down and truly explore what mattered. Life‑changing moments became a recurring theme, helping them reflect not only on past decisions, but also on future ambitions. These conversations strengthened Zisis’ confidence and helped him position himself more consciously within his professional environment, knowing he could always reach out to someone he trusted for honest advice.

“The mentorship program brought me a friend — someone I know I can still reach out to, who has a level of knowledge and experience I really value.” – Zisis, mentee

For Edward, the mentorship was equally meaningful. Being a mentor offered space for reflection, fresh perspectives, and learning through curiosity. The relationship reminded him that mentoring is never one‑sided — it’s a shared journey where both mentor and mentee grow.

Their story shows the real power of the Young Workplace Pride Mentorship Program: when commitment and curiosity meet, mentoring becomes more than guidance. It becomes connection, reflection, and lasting impact — for both sides.
